First results of a monitoring experiment for the analysis of rainfall induced landslides

Abstract:

Monitoring of saturation-desaturation processes is a critical issue for the assessment of potential landslides. In this study, the design and first results of a monitoring experiment for a test site in the vicinity of previous landslides is presented. The monitoring experiment will be conducted over a period of one year to reflect typical seasonal hydrological changes. Meteorological data (rainfall, temperature and air pressure), infiltration, outflow and suction and saturation at different depths up to 1.5 m will be measured continuously using tensiometers, Time Domain Reflectometers and MoisturePoint devices.
