Methods of monitoring landslides

Monitoring is one Of the key elements in any landslide investigation. A staged approach is generally applied regarding the type of instrumentation, the number of measuring points or sections as well as the frequency of readings. The focus in this paper is on recent developments in monitoring displacement vector profiles particularly along vertical boreholes. It is shown that such observations may substantially help to elucidate essential aspects of the kinematics of a slide.
